Normally, a bar with “hotel” is added, it gives an ambience to be more expensive, more upscale and more generally unenjoyable for us young people to attend a Friday evening. With this in mind when I arrived I was at AB Hotel in disarray: that was all drinks ridiculously expensive and the staff of condescension? Why was it totally the opposite of what I expected?
Sure, there were the elderly … but the feeling was completely backwards, since the interior. AB is the old hotel and has a British feel very comfortable as the legacy of the house should be. Location has brick walls and the warm and cozy lighting and low key (but still good enough for you to see the person you’re next) provides that the show “nightlife.” downstairs level is a bit ‘well lit and you can eat in the evening, when the upstairs is bursting with the aura of mystery and stuffiness – perfect for when you’ve been drinking a bit’! The best part about the whole place, even if he has got to be upstairs at the bar: the bench, where the bartenders are not only the bench, the bench turned-fish-tank, which provides some entertainment (whether drunk or sober), and means that there is always something to watch when you’re waiting for your drinks.
On the note of the bartender, the staff of the AB are some of the coolest people I ever met. With so many bars and nightclubs in Sydney, really difficult to provide an exemption from a second, and customer service is one of the few things that attract people. The bartender remembered my drink and immediately got a second, when I returned to the bar, and all employees have a really “happy to be here” look on their faces … and it makes me happy to be there.
Of course, AB is not the best place to go dancing with strangers all night. What is good, even if the function is the place: the upstairs design means that it is fully covered by the birthday of the owner or a night stag and hen parties with ease. I went to a concert there Friday night, and all that, my friends and I could speak, how we should employ a level out of their birthday. Its location is good, while Glebe means that AB is just minutes from the central railway station, riders of the night or by taxi.
The music is, of course, the lower secondary level, but in the corner and upstairs is a dance floor (though not huge), if that’s where the evening takes you. AB also has a trivia night on Monday and Wednesday, and poker on Thursday and Sunday, so it is only for those who want to celebrate.
